It's a boy for Jewel and husband Ty Murray, who welcomed their first child on Monday night."Ty and I are so pleased to welcome our new baby boy Kase Townes Murray into the world!" Jewel posted on her website. "We are over come with happiness - it really is as great as everyone told us it would be- better even!"
The couple have said they have been trying to conceive for two years andannounced that they were expecting back in January. The two were married in 2008 in the Bahamas. Kase was born in Texas — where the couple owns a working ranch — at 7 p.m. CT, weighing 7 pounds, 6 ounces.
Previously, Jewel opened up about finding the right time to start a family. "I have always been a workaholic, so I had to learn how to slow down and take care of myself in a different way," she told People in January. "I'm trying to be in the moment and really enjoy my pregnancy. I feel really lucky."
Murray felt similarly enthused about starting a family after three years of marriage. "We're so excited to be expecting our first baby," he said. "We always knew we wanted to have a child, and this time in our lives feels right."
Jewel released an album of children's song back in 2009 called Lullaby and now has a new collection of kid-friendly songs called The Merry Goes 'Round that will be released in August.
